I'm back in Ann Arbor! wohoo! Break was wayy too short, but I guess it's good cause I gained about 6-7 lbs when I was in Taiwan in just two weeks (yikes). So now I'm back to a strict diet and my swimming routine.

This break was the first time I've travelled since Sept. 11th. I had to go through three flights to get to Taiwan (normally, I fly Northwest which is just two). And one of the things I want to address is the whole debate about profiling. When I was flying from Chicago to Detroit, they were doing "random" checks at the gate. I was one of the last people to get in line to board because my pervious flight from LA had only arrived at the gate a good 7 minutes before the boarding of this flight. So I got in line, and I was watching the lady pull people out of the line for "random" checks. It was quite apparent that she was singling out young males. After about pulling out ten males from the line she looked back at the search area and realized that it was quite apparent that she was being biased in her selection. She then proceeded to select two females, which I assume was done under the attempt to make it look like she was being random. Lucky for me, on my six flights this winter, I didn't get selected once. I guess I just don't look very threatening.

Now many people get upset about the whole "profiling" issue. And in this political correct society that we live in, such discrimination is unacceptable (ironically, these people usually also support affirmative action). But come on, let's be realistic. First of all, when was the last time you have ever heard of a female hijacking an airplane? Do you think a seventy year old man with a back problems will hijack an airplane? Or how about a young mother with a baby? How about an Arab with a foreign passport with a one way ticket across the country, expired visa, and no checked luggage? My personal opinion is that all males that are not senior citizens and over the age of 15 should be searched before boarding any airplane. Okay, I'll have to talk more about this later. Time to go swimming =).

There once was a man who got a woman pregnant, and who decided not to be a father--he's selfish, inhumane, a deadbeat dad.

Okay, so I haven't updated my website in a while. Well, cause frankly, my life has been pretty much the same.

However, that doesn't mean I can't complain about Democrats =). Okay, so what's this controversy about Federal Aviation standards? Let me tell you why the Republicans are right. First of all, the Democrats are complaining that what has happened is a travesty to the American people. They believe that the federal government should employ people to take care of airport security. No, no, no. The job of the federal government is to ENFORCE the safety standard. Let me tell you why. If a private company is held responsible and they don't meet up the the federal standard. What do you do? You freakin' fire them. If the federal government is employed for airport security and they screw up then what happens? They get a slap on the wrist and go right back to work the next day. The federal government can't fire itself for screwing up. And then they have to launch this 5 billion dollar federal "investigation" to figure out what went wrong. This will probably lead to some 400 page report that will end up on some senator's desk and never read. The job of the federal government is to enforce the standard. This creates competition between security companies for better standards. (See how this closely resembles one of the reasons why communism failed?) People need to realize that big government is bad. We don't want MORE red tape. We want less. To sum up this point I will quote from one of my personal heros Ronald Reagan, "The scariest words in the English language are... 'I'm from the government. And I'm here to help.'"

"Woody Allen Wasn't talking about foreign policy when he said that 85% of life is just showing up." - Tom Daschle, criticizing Bush foreign policy chiefs for merely attending international meetings.

Once again another liberal tactic. Shameless. Don't go to an international meeting, you get criticized (not to mention called a bunch of names). Go to an international meeting, you still get critized. Tom Daschle needs to get a life.

Okay, I moved my previous two posts about politics to the "politics page"

Good dancing and music videos
During my two and a half months of self-imposed exile in Taiwan, I have been fortunate to witness the dramatic improvement of the Asia (specifically non-Korean) music video industry!

Namie Amuro -- Say the Word This has been by far the best music video I have seen this summer. I never really paid too much attention to Jpop. Almost all the female artist seem the same to me -- cute, big eyes, wears colors like pink and bright yellow, sometimes dresses in a school girl uniform, can't dance, etc etc. Of course there are a few that stood out to me like Ayumi Hamasaki, Utada Hikaru, and the now defunct Speed. However, none of their music videos stood out as much as this one. Why is this one so amazing? It's the dancing. I have never ever recalled ANY Japanese artist being able to dance so well. The dancing in the music video is so good that I wouldn't have been surprised if it was put in a Janet Jackson video. Simply amazing.

BoA -- Amazing Kiss I love the choreography in this video too. It was so good that I didn't even notice that the song was being sung in Japanese at first. I know BoA has been a long time Korean singer, so I always expected good dancing, but this was especially good. It was so good, I didn't even mind all the FOB english in the song (i.e. "Amazing Kiss! This is only shooting star. You are precious in my love.")

LANDY -- Can You Feel It? It is because of this video I have hope for Taiwan now. Taiwan has in the past been producing mainly only one type of mainstream artist -- the sit-in-a-karaoke-room-singing-love-ballads-artist. And pretty much none of them could dance. The only artist that really could dance well was Coco and she's American so she doesn't count. But Landy on the other hand... Wow. The first time my sister and I saw the music video we were both like "there's no way that girl is Tawanese, she's gotta be American." There was simply no way for any Taiwan born person to have THAT MUCH attitude when dancing. Turns out we were wrong. So if she can dance like that, there is hope for the Taiwan music industry to get some more of that R&B and Hip hop.

I just got back from a short vacation in Japan.. I did some shopping, went sight seeing, went to disney world (which was almost identical to the Magic Kingdom in Florida) practice the little Japanese that I know ("Yes, that is a book. No, that is not a book. I am American. How much does that cost? I want a discount." hehe), but the coolest part was when I bought a camera.

Say hello to my brand new Canon EOS Kiss III.

Please
sign my guestbook (if you haven't already). I've been averaging 20-30 hits a day for the past week, but only a few people sign my guestbook =(. Someone from the government even visited my site yesterday (IP: fed2.frb.gov). Don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing. haha. And he didn't sign my guestbook. hmph. So please sign my guestbook, even if you work for the government.

Okay, maybe this black, white, and gray is getting depressing (or it just could be because its dark and gloomy outside right now). I guess I'll play with the colors sometime this week.

Funny how I can see people doing this...

Links page updated too.

I think I'm just having too much fun with my politics page.

06.14.01 second update at 5:54pm
Okay, I added more things today... the little changing quote on top (it changes evertime you visit or refresh) and added a poll to the Savior page and made fun of people on the political page. =)

Politics page updated. =)

06.13.01

I decided that my webpage needs a new look. That whole frame format was getting annoying. I also figured that I needed to add more to the website as well. Tell me what you think =). Most of it is still relatively the same, just the different format, and I added a politics section. Also some of the links are still under construction, and I haven't converted all parts of the site to the new format yet.

  • I love the Michigan Review

"How about that election? Oooh, poor Democrats, you guys aren't pissed about the election, are you? Didn't you guys realize that rednecks, gun owners, Christians and otherwise decent God-fearing people vote too? So here's a piece of advice for 2004: it doesn't really matter how many millions of dollars you guys spend on get-out-the-vote campaigns if the people you urge to go out and vote DON'T KNOW HOW. So we at the Michigan Review hope you Democrats out there, especially those at the Daily, enjoy the next four years of loosened gun laws, tightened abortion laws, a respectable military and tax cuts, because we know that we will. And when you're crying in your pillow at night because the President just put another hardened conservative on the Supreme Court, don't curse us for it, curse Ralph Nader."

  • Okay, I've had more then enough liberalism on this campus then I can take. So I am now starting a series entitled, "Liberalism: You're an idiot." or maybe something along the lines of "Okay, you're weird." Anyway, I'll think of a better title for this new webpage era.
  • I might as well start right now... The other day I was hearing a bunch of liberals trying to convince a room full of conservatives that the every standardized test ever made was racist. Now when you took the SAT, did you think to yourself, "Holy cow, this test must have been written by the KKK!!"
